I was doing some research about nine inch nails then about trent reznor and i found the free ep from his new band. I didn’t know he was in a new band but i’m glad i found it and that the ep was for free.
Right now i haven’t listented to it but one song on youtube and it was good. I think it is interested how i got to this free ep, i was thinking about a new song we are develping with my band and i play something similar to that NIN song called “the hand that feeds”, so i started researching about the band and listened to the song to get more ideas.
Anyways without further due here is the link to get the FREE EP, enjoy!!
I have included the how to destroy angel’s video for you fine people to view, listen and enjoy
By now everybody probably knows this but Dropbox is a great solution for syncing and sharing files over the internet. I first learned of it back in college and it proved itself worth it since i placed my work at school and when i got home, Voila!! it was there too.
Long story short, as some of you know i play in a band called Buffalo Picnic and we record our rehearsals to use as reference to modify songs or to recall ideas when we jam to later make them into an actual song. This is a very useful tool for bands, i sometime play the songs at home and play along with my guitar to make new parts for our songs.
to avoid going into too much details here is the deal, if you sign up following this link i get free extra space and you get free extra space, even if you don’t know me at all, win to win!!! so please click this link to sign up and let’s get some extra free space!!!
I’ve been thinking about redesigning a website I did for school, spiderlegdeli.com It is a food recipe website that was meant to be updated constantly by adding recipes made by me or modified by me.
Anyways i’m very tired at this moment but the new website will be public for all but will have a few people posting new recipes, mostly people i know or referred to me. Anybody can sing up and leave comments and participate, maybe even having merchandising or donations to help keep the website live.
I will be posting more info on the progress of this project.
Anyways, a few years ago i bought an amp, the crate XT120R because it was cheap and i had no job, i do not remember how much i paid but after owning it for years i can see that it was the worst amp ever created.
When i first bought the amp i was under the impression that it had the “flexwave” technology that simulates tubes but apparently it didn’t. The amp sucks big time by itself pretty much.
What i have been doing to compensate for the really bad ugly sound this amp has is using effect modelers/processors. I have been using Digitech for a lot of years, i started with the rp-100, then moved to the rp-200 and currently using the rp-2000. The sound of the latter could be better but does the job for this horrendous amp.
The idea is simple the effects processor is being used as a preamp to boost the tone and sound quality of the solid state using the insert, send/return connections. This works but it’s better if you have an actual tube amp or a good solid state amp.
Lately i’ve been considering using individual stomp boxes instead of an effects processor and been pondering how to compensate for tone. The possible solution i came up with is to buy a preamp that uses a tube (mainly used for vocal work), already stared gearing up with some effects pedals and hopefully it works. I will make another post to see if the preamp idea works.
I want to give a piece of advice to everyone, although kind of too late. Whenever you see the Crate XT120R for sale on Craigslist.org, pawn shop or any other place please do yourself a favor and don’t buy it. The money you will have to invest to get it to sound good plus the cost of the amp is already enough to get a tube amp or a solid state like a Peavey brand that will perform better. Later i will make another post to see how the preamp idea works on tone and volume for solid state amps.
I found the coolest app for musicians who have android phones. Uloops it’s called, uloops.net, anyways I managed to figure it out and made a song. I look forward to the day our phones are powerful mobile recording studios for us musicians out there to record music when creativity strikes.
Here is the song I made “Run Away From Dreams” (listen from uloops.net) or just listen to it here
